How to Become a Spiritual Teacher

Before I became a spiritual teacher, I was just a girl who liked to write and help people. I started a blog in 2008 and when all my blogger friends were writing about fashion, I just wanted to talk about all the woo-woo stuff that was helping me heal. I never imagined helping people through their spiritual awakenings could be a career, until one day when I came across wellness author Kris Carr’s blog. It seemed like writing and teaching others was her full-time gig, and I was mesmerized. At that moment, something in me told me to find out how to become a spiritual teacher.

If you’re reading this article, you probably already have a strange feeling inside calling you to spiritual work. Yet, at the same time, you’re also wondering if it’s your intuition or if you’re just crazy. Believe me, I get it! But do know, most people are not reading a “How to become a spiritual teacher” article and seeking intuition training. This is a sign you’re being called. Know that you don’t have to do this alone.

Allow me to support you by providing the below steps that will help you become a confident spiritual teacher and change the lives of many along the way.

Go Through Your Own Healing Journey

At this point, you’ve probably already had your own spiritual awakening. Nothing feels the same since that moment, right? Well, in order to support others, you’ll want to work on understanding how that awakening happened and what you learned. The most authentic spiritual teachers are forever students of life. Meaning, they are always working to release the ego and bring light to the wounds they have acquired throughout their lives.

Now, don’t get me wrong. You by no means need to be perfect. In fact, many great teachers are people who have risen from the ashes and have battle wounds to show. Never be ashamed of your story, but make sure you understand it before you try to help others. Much of what you will learn from your own healing journey will be the medicine you bring back to your people.

Study Great Spiritual Leaders Who You Admire

As you go through your own spiritual journey, you will definitely come across other great teachers through books, courses, and content. Make sure to not only study their work but also their journeys. Ask yourself, “How did they get to where they are today?” Also, pay attention to why people resonate with them or their stories. What are they uniquely good at?

You will find that your own work will be inspired by the works of great teachers. Don’t be afraid to share your work. Most young teachers are afraid that they have nothing unique to offer and they resist sharing the works of great thinkers.

If you notice, many great teachers started by explaining classic teachings. For example, there are many beautiful gurus who teach Buddhism. The concept is not new, but the way they explain it to a modern audience is.

By curating spiritual content and sharing it with an audience you will learn to find your voice and your courage. Eventually, through intuition development, you will begin to download your own unique methods and messages. But you have to start somewhere!

Pay Attention to What You Love or Where Your Curiosity Leads You

As you study healing techniques and texts that have helped you in your journey, pay attention to what lights you up or what you find yourself wanting to learn more about. When I started my process, I was really interested in the brain. I couldn’t believe that no one had told me that thoughts create our lives! Because of this, I studied hypnotherapy, although I had no clue as to why at the time. I am grateful I did because I use hypnotherapy principles in all the guided meditations I make for my community and programs.

After my deep dive into the brain, I became very interested in spirit guides and past lives. This was the beginning of my love affair with the metaphysical. To be honest, I was very afraid of this little hobby of mine, but with time I realized that these were just tools helping me to become the intuitive I am today.

Get Training and Develop Your Gifts

Lastly, once you start to get an idea of what you love the most, invest in some really good training. I believe that you have been a spiritual teacher for many lifetimes, but this lifetime you don’t remember and many of what these trainings do are help you remember your truth.

A quality training will give you a solid method that you can take and make your own as soon as you graduate and it will give you the confidence you’re lacking when you first start out.

The Soul Reading Method

If you’re feeling called to intuition development, I would love to have you join my three-month program the Soul Reading Method where I train emerging spiritual healers and teachers on how to perform accurate intuitive readings for clients.

The Soul Reading Method is also great training for anyone who wants to be a spiritual leader and make a full-time income but doesn’t have a service or product to offer. In this training, you’ll learn how to perform a full, one-hour reading. As soon as you graduate, you can start making money by performing these readings and really support people in their healing.
