The 5 Elements of a Soul’s Purpose

We love to think that our purpose is just one thing — a job, a position, a vocation — but it is so much greater than that. I know because I have read hundreds of purposes in my readings!

Purpose is like a spinning sphere. It has many different faces, and you’ll see something new depending on when you are looking at it.

To help us understand this large concept, I want to introduce you to the five elements of a Soul’s Purpose, which was given to me while in the Akashic Records (while being nosey!).

Often, we think there is only one purpose, which is why we feel nuts when our purpose seems to change. It’s important to know there are a few moving parts to a purpose. And if we know what part of the purpose is coming to our awareness, it may be easier for us to accept the understanding.

Here are the 5 elements of a Soul’s Purpose and their descriptions. Let me know which one you’re currently working on!

Spiritual Purpose

This is the big one. The one we’re always trying to solve, yet it can be hard to comprehend. This answers “Why did I come to Earth this lifetime?” If the soul chooses its lifetimes, why did it pick this one? Often, our soul’s are coming to clear karmic relationships, to ascend to the next level, to learn a certain virtue, and so on. The spiritual purpose is about the soul’s own evolution. Your birth chart is a great resource to help understand this aspect.

Collective Purpose

The Collective Purpose answers the question “Why was I sent to Earth this lifetime?” This part of our purpose has a level of duty or mission. When we seek a perfect career and call it purpose, we’re typically referring to the Collective Purpose. This aspect of purpose involves an offering or a type of service we bring to the world. It is not all career-related. Not all souls have a Collective Purpose, but those that do, often come from other planets and are bringing their gifts to seed the Earth. Or they are old souls experienced with Earth and serve as keepers of the planet.

Current Purpose

If the Spiritual and Collective were big goals, the Current Purpose would be a task on your to-do list. These are the awarenesses, lessons, and actions that are currently important in order to complete the great goal by the end of this lifetime. These are very “human” tasks like, “find a partner,” “learn to believe in yourself,” or “forgive your past.” We tend to overlook the Current Purpose, because we are seeking something bigger, but often we need to understand and take action on the Current Purpose in order to understand the Spiritual and Collective.

Required Purpose

The Required Purpose can also be seen as the human purpose, because it has to do with our human assignments. For example, your children will have an assignment for you or you were born into a culture, which cannot be changed and needs your attention. The Required Purpose is associated with the Root chakra and when overlooked can be seen as “spiritual bypassing.”

Personal Purpose

The Personal Purpose is like a bonus. The soul does its best to plan out a lifetime, but once it’s on Earth, certain paths need to be re-routed and new options present themselves. This aspect has a lot to do with lifestyle and answers the question, “How do I want to live this lifetime?”
